Be on the look out for coupons in the Sunday paper for board games (like this gem I found in a Target add!).  The classes had a great time and I hope you can add a couple of the games to your own home.

Cross Checking!

No, we are not learning about hockey moves! We are learning about how to use multiple reading strategies to help us as we read!  This poster has the language that we use when we are stuck on a word!  Cross checking is when we are able to apply all of these strategies together!

We are also working on selecting 'Just right books' to read.  We know most of the words in these books. If a book is too hard, comprehension breaks down and is not the primary focus!

Most importantly, please continue to read books to your child as they grow into independent readers.  Reading to them promotes comprehension and vocabulary!

The Three Little Pigs

This week, we talked about my favorite fairy tale, The Three Little Pigs!  We read several versons, made a story map to retell the story, and even built houses that even the wolf couldn't blow down!  Enjoy our pictures!
