Apple Taste Test!

First, we used a poem and listened for words that rhymed.  We then used our pincher fingers to tear an apple core!  It was great fine motor practice!

Then, we tasted a piece of red, yellow, and green apple.  YUM!

Last, we graphed our results!

Center Time!

During Center Time, we...

Read and matched our numbers 1-20

Created a page from our Apple Tree Seasons book

Read with a partner or to our self

Worked on illustrations for our writing

In the next couple months, we will be transitioning our Center Time into Daily 5!!!

We are learning how to sound spell!

We are learning how to label using arrows!  When we want to sound spell, we say the word quietly, then slow it down (we sound like robots!).  What is the first sound you hear? Do you hear any other sounds?
This takes LOTS of practice!  Celebrate their writing coming home and practice letter sounds in the car, before dinner, before bed, during story time and more!

Who Stole the Cookies???

Help!  We had cookie treats, but someone from our class stole them!

 Oh no!

We looked all over the classroom... look who found the cookies!

Froggy hid them in the classroom restaurant.

They were so yummy!!

Today we learned about talking to someone about what we know and what we can do.  This helps us brainstorm ideas to write about.  We sit knee to knee and eye to eye!

Also, our school will be using the Paper Gator to recycle our scrap paper.  This is a fundraising program, so feel free to put your own paper recycling in there, too!  Just drop it in when you can!  It's located in the front parking lot.

Center Time

We are learning how to rotate through different centers!

We wrote our names with glue and sprinkled sand over them.  Our sand names magically appeared!  When they harden, we will use them again!

We had a great time pointing to words and pictures as we read with monster fingers!

Some feathered friends...bird clothespins...flew in and we helped them lay their eggs in their 'nests!'

Our busy first week!

We made it through our first week of school!  We ended our week with a popsicle celebration!

We created our social contract together.  We signed it and will continue to review what we decided was important.  These are our classroom rules!

We learned how to use 'Feed the Face' at Center time.  This is a fine motor activity which helps the muscles in our hands gain strength.

Putting chains together is another great fine motor activity!

Rolling play dough and creating cut out objects is a fun way to strengthen our hands!

Free Choice is a classroom favorite!  Our friendly restaurant staff loves serving delicious meals!

Our entire school is working on 'be nice!'  We decided that this, too would be part of our classroom rules and social contract.
