Gingerbread Theme!

We have been helping decorate the giant gingerbread house in the library. We also loved smelling and making gingerbread ornaments in our classroom!

We used 6 cups of cinnamon
               3 cups of applesauce
               1/2 cup of glue!

They smell wonderful but we didn't taste them!

After reading about the gingerbread man, we decided to bake our own!

After lunch, our class discovered that our gingerbread men were missing!! We searched the school, and discovered clues that lead us to the office.  Thank you, Mrs. Combs, for racing around to catch them! Sorry for not including pictures of this... It was too special for me to stop and take pictures :)

Christmas tree symmetry

We learned about the word symmetry, and completed a Christmas tree, drawing the symmetrical side that was missing! We loved coloring and decorating it!

Firefighter Brian Meyerholtz

Firefighter Meyerholtz came to visit all of the kindergarten students. He showed us all of the pieces that go to his uniform. His entire uniform weighs about 80 pounds. He talked about his job, and told us that he learns new things all of time so he even goes to school.

Mrs. Hales tries on the uniform. It is very heavy!

Mr. Meyerholtz shows us how firefighters move through a burning building on their hands and knees to stay below the smoke.

When he has his mask on we can hear him breathing! Kind of like Darth Vader.

We practiced stop, drop, and roll! We have to be sure to cover our face, too!

Camera Man Daren Bower!

We kicked off our community helpers unit with inviting Eli's dad to our classroom.  He is a camera man, or photo journalist, for Fox 17 News!  He showed us his cameras.  It weighs 18 pounds!

We even saw our faces on the monitor!

We got to hear our voices on the microphone:

Mr. Bower also told the class how he edits his videos-- with his computer!

Here is one for us adults... Mr. Bower told the class that he used to take video using a VHS, and one of the students said, "what is that?" :):)

Thank you so much, Mr.Bower, for your enthusiasm and showing the class all your neat equipment! It was a special day in Kindergarten!
