Project 64

We are well underway with Project 64! During this time, we focus on correct pencil/crayon grip, stamina, organization, handwriting, and stretching our sounds to make words.  Here are a few snapshots of our time!

Our class helpers set up our stations before we leave for music.

We take 5 minutes to sharpen crayons and pencils

We warm up our muscles by drawing straight lines, circles, and crayon tornados! We are practicing just using our finger and thumb muscles to "swim like a froggy!"

We are in the middle of drawing African Flowers, and we will finish next week! They look GREAT so far!

Melt and Ice Cube

Today, we played a game with partners.  We took turns rolling a dice, and used the worksheet as a guide.  Burr!! The ice was cold!

Molly had to wiggle to get the ice cube out of her shirt!

The person whose ice cube melted first was the winner.  At the end of our game, we talked about what melted the ice cube the fastest-- can you guess?

Parents, we also played a fun game during our Daily 5 time. It's called Thin Ice and I found it at Manards for $5. It helps reinforce fine motor, sharing, patience, and counting skills!  It was a hit!

The Donut

The donut is a speaking and listening activity that we use to practice our oral language skills!

Every listener reports what the speaker had to share with them!

Counting Collections

Today practiced counting our collections. Please practice counting items at home with your child! Some students are counting by ones to 50.  Students who can count over one hundred are grouping their collections by 10's!  We will also practice counting by 5's and 2s!  The kids love these activities!

Daily 5 Snapshot

We worked hard during our Daily 5 routine!

We made CVC words with Mrs. Iverson using magnet letters!

We worked on writing by writing words around the room!

We read the poem titled Sunflakes, brainstormed how they might feel and look, then made our Sunflakes!

We listened to reading

And we played math games!
