Thunder Cake!

Since we had such stormy weather, we made a Thunder Cake as we read Patricia Polacco's book, Thunder Cake!  The story is aboout Patricia, when she was little and how she was afraid of thunder.  Her grandmother baked a special cake on days like this one!  Many thanks to our special baker, Mrs. Fridsma, who mixed the ingredients together as we read the story!

 

Measurement

We are learning about standard units of measurement.  First, we each traced our own foot and measured things.  We discovered that since our feet are different sizes, we came up with different measurements for the same object!  That is why we have a standard 'foot' of twelve inches!

We Are Hatching Eggs!

Look at our newest addition to our kindergarten classroom!  For the next 21 days, we will be hatching chicken eggs to kick off our spring lifecycles unit.  We owe and HUGE thank you to Bridgette Koll and Rylee!  They are letting us hatch eggs from their own chickens. 

The Paper Bag Princess

We enjoyed using the characters from The Paper Bag Princess as we listened to the story again, then practiced retelling it!  We were so excited to bring them home for break to share!

 

 

Happy Easter!

We sorted and graphed jelly beans today!  We even got to taste some :)
