100's Day and Valentine's Day

What a busy busy day in kindergarten! We started our morning with celebrating 100 days of school.  We read a story about 100 pigs, then our class discovered that 100 pigs were hiding in our room! We used a color-coded number grid to help us put all the pigs in number order.  What a task!

We also dimmed the lights and practiced writing numbers in the air with our new wands "100 Days Brigter!"

We also enjoyed our Valentine's Day party!  A huge thank you to Amy Fonnesbeck for planning and prepping a perfect memory for the little ones, and all the parents who came to celebrate with us.  Enjoy the photos!

Forces in Motion

We learned about three forces!

Gravity, Push and Pull!

Then we went outside and used our sleds to help us understand how gravity, pushing and pulling work! We also had a great time sledding!

Kindness Calendar

We began activities with our Kindness Calendar! On Tuesday, we wrote a note to a classmate, using kind words. Today, we completed a random act of kindness for Mrs. Guy' s class! We were so excited to watch her class as they received our special delivery...a card with chocolate hearts! Later, we learned that Mrs. Falcinelli's class would treat us with a random act of kindness, too!

We made snow ice cream!

What better way to make the best of all the snow than to make snow ice cream!  We measured, poured, stirred, and ate our creations!  YUM!
You can find the recipe for snow ice cream here :)  ENJOY!

Stranger in the Woods

We read one of our favorite stories, Stranger in the Woods.  We made predictions who the stranger was!  Our class loved the real photographs in the book!

In the story, the snowman has goodies that the forest animals eat!  Bird seed in the red hat, and a carrot for the deer.  We connected to the book by making our own bird feeders!

Enjoy our creations!  You can do this at home, too.  All you need is toilet paper tube, butter-flavored Crisco, and bird seed.  The tube fits nicely over a small tree branch!
