The Lifecycle of a Pumpkin
After reading "Pumpkin Jack" by Will Hubbell, we created pumpkin Lifecycle projects. We practiced orally telling about the life cycle of the pumpkin, starting with the rotting pumpkin in our classroom!! Please have your child continue to practice this skill of orally telling about the life cycle of the pumpkin!

Nonfiction text features
Since school started, we have been looking at the differences between fiction and nonfiction books. This week, we dove deeper! Here is the chart we made about the nonfiction text features:
Next, we broke off into groups to make a Nonfiction Text Features book. We used the anchor chart to make a page for titles, labels, captions, illustrations, maps, and photographs. Here we are cutting out pictures from nonfiction magazines to go on our book pages:

Apple Orchard
Thanks to our parents and grandparents who joined us!
The rain held off and we had a great morning...
Learning about apples...bees must pollinate each apple blossom at least 4 times or the apple may not fully form correctly! After our apple cider and apple donuts we...
Fed the goats...
Picked a pumpkin and an apple!
Put feed on the conveyer belt...
And had a great time going down the slide and jumping in the hay!
In the afternoon we created a class book about our trip which is displayed in the hallway!
